When choosing a college, there are many things to consider. What size school do you want? How far away do you want to go to attend college? What type of degree are you hoping to earn? How much can you afford to pay on your education? The questions go on and on. But have you considered how your Christian faith fits into this decision? While many Christians find excellent ways to grow and learn at secular colleges, a Christian college can be a great way place for you to earn your degree. Here are some points to help you decide if a Christian college is right for you.

1. Determine the type of school you want.
Narrowing down the size, location, and type of school that best suits you may be a difficult task. Start first by asking yourself if you'd like to learn in an environment that allows your faith to mature while preparing for your career. If this sounds like the type of place you'd like to learn, then a Christian college might be right for you. One of the benefits of a Christian college is that you'll be surrounded by individuals that share your faith. This will allow you to think critically about your faith, ask questions, and challenge yourself in a way that will help you mature and grow closer to God.

2. Determine the type of degree you want.
Christian colleges often have the reputation that they are places where students go to study the Bible. While this is an essential part of a Christian college education, there is so much more to that education. Today Christian colleges are rapidly expanding the type of degree programs they offer. In addition to degrees related to ministry, you will find programs in health care, business, communications, psychology, education, and more. You don't have to decide today what you'll study in college, but do consider that Christian colleges often provide the flexibility to earn an education that will serve you in many types of careers.

3. Determine the type of community you want.
One of the best things about college life is being a part of a community. On Christian campuses you'll find opportunities to develop your interests, whether through athletics, music, journalism, service projects, or other areas. Student life on Christian campuses can be just as fun and exciting as any other college campus.

Making a decision about college can be challenging. But above all, when deciding if a Christian college is right for you, ask God for guidance. Matthew 7:7 says "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find." By seeking God's guidance, you may find a college that far exceeds your expectations.
